As the main event fighter for Art of War 15, Ueyama Ryuki becomes the focus of the Chinese public. How tough is this Japanese fighter? What is his record? Ueyama was born in Tokyo on April 17th, 1976. He is 181 centimeters tall and weighs at 80 kilograms. Ueyama hails from the U-FILE CAMP. Since his first debut in MMA in 1999, Ueyama has sent shockwaves through Japanese MMA circuit and has become a super star in Japan. In DEEP’s (Japanese MMA Promotion) Middle weight fight in June 9th, 2002, Ueyama went to the semi-finals defeating Seiki Ryo, and he consecutively submitted Takaharu Murahama and Eiji Ishikawa by armbar in the semi final and final match, making him the new DEEP middle weight Champion. After that, he faced the tough Japanese fighter Hayato Sakurai and lost by decision after 3 rounds of hard combat.

In Pride Bushido 2, Ueyama fought the famous American fighter Sean Sherk, but lost a hard fought decision. After that, he fought in Pride Bushido 5, facing the ‘superman’ Ikuhisa Minowa. After 3 rounds of tough fighting, 1 judge decided for Ueyama, but the other 2 judges gave Minowa the winning nod. Even though Ueyama lost this fight, he still proved to the public how tough he is. In 2006, Ueyama put his emphasis on the stand-up game, attending K-1MAX and defeating Akira Ohigashi in the first round. However, unfortunately due to a torn ligament, in the finals he lost to Yoshihiro Sato who went on to KO the world famous Thai fighter Buakaw. Though he didn’t go to the finals, Ueyama still showed an excellent performance to all the fans.

After one year of adjustments, Ueyama returned to DEEP and had a record of 1 win and 1 lost. In Art of War 15, Ueyama will face the Chinese MMA veteran Ao Hai Lin. Coincidentally, same as Ueyama , Ao Hai Lin is also a well-rounded fighter. Ao Hai Lin has a unblemished 10-0 MMA record, and he is also the champion of the first China Muaythai Championship. Ao Hailin has youth and endurance but Ueyama Ryuki has experience and a grater arsenal of techniques. So join us November 28th to see who is going to be victorious.
